Introduction:

Welcome to the WSSC Waves Swim Team! The Waves swim team is owned and operated by the Western Springs Service Club. All practices will be held at the WSSC West Pool located at 1300 Hillgrove Ave. Our team competes in the West Suburban Conference with teams from Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Lisle, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Clarendon Hills, and Lemont. Meets will be held both at the WSSC Pool and at the pools in the communities of the West Suburban Conference. 

Age and Requirements:
The WSSC swim team is open to children ages 6-18 (as of 6/1/16). Whatever age your child is on JUNE 1, 2016 is the age group in which they will swim for the summer season. 
 

Try Out Expectations:

• 8 AND UNDER SWIMMERS MUST BE ABLE TO COMFORTABLY COMPLETE SWIMMING ONE LENGTH OF THE POOL FREESTYLE AND ANOTHER STROKE OF THEIR CHOOSING (25 YARDS).

• 9 THROUGH 18 YEAR-OLD SWIMMERS MUST BE ABLE TO COMFORTABLY COMPLETE SWIMMING TWO LENGTHS OF THE POOL FREESTYLE AND ANOTHER STROKE OF THEIR CHOOSING (50 YARDS).

Try Out Date:

Sunday, May 22nd at the WSSC

1pm- 8 & Unders

2pm- 9 & Overs

Please understand that swim team is NOT a lesson program.  New swimmers will be evaluated during our try outs by our coaching staff. If we feel your child is not ready for our competitive swim team they will become eligible for our Junior Waves program or recommended to our swim lessons. 

Goals:

• Teach swimmers basic techniques

• Teach swimmers team commitment

• Teach swimmers team spirit

• Prepare swimmers for competition

• Help swimmers to achieve individual goals

• Involve parents as volunteers in the program

General Information:

• All swimmers must be a member of the WSSC Pool in order to participate.

• Parents need to sign their swimmer up online with our new online registration system.

• If your child is a new, swimmers need to attend try outs BEFORE you register your swimmer.

• Practices and home meets are held at the WSSC West Pool located at 1300 Hillgrove Ave.

• A Meets are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

• B Meets are held on Thursdays and Saturdays.

• Friends and relatives are encouraged to come to the meets to cheer their swimmers on!

• The Waves compete in “A” (more competitive) and “B”(less competitive) meet levels.

• The Waves follow the rules set forth by the West Suburban Swim Conference.

Fees:

The swimmer fee for our program is $125 per swimmer paid when registering your swimmer.
